[s-cars] Paint woes

So I finally get my car back from the body shop.
Replaced hood and bumper trim due to a loony stuffing her trailer hitch
into my grill.
Repaint hood, bumper, bumper trim and blend paint onto front fenders.
Her insurance covered it.

The bummer is the cheap SOB's did not bother to fill the rock chips on
the parts they did not replace.
So now I have a new hood and bumper trim and painted over chips on the
fender flares and bumper.
It really bums me out as it would only have been a little extra work to
make it perfect.
The body shops comment, " The insurance will never pay to fix the chips
as they were already there.  You should have told us you wanted them
fixed and paid extra  etc etc"
Im bummed and kick myself for not following the work more closely.
Anybody been through this sort of thing before?
Damn it never ends
