well, they do have that tire softening compound.  i forgot what it's
called, but it softens up the tires and makes them sticky.  hey, i should
try that.

but the driver is the most important thing, especially if you haven't
driven a kart before.  it's very different from driving a car.  keeping
up momentum is key.  it's easy to overdrive the kart, which will make
you slower.  concentrate on not sliding the kart or scrubbing the tires,
because the kart is too underpowered to make up for the scrubbing.
