Dave,
Small hands would probably help, but I've done two of these and I
have large hands.

The switch has to come out the top, but if you pull the switch out
still connected to the connector (and thus wiring harness) you've
pretty much got to take the both of them downwards.
Then you reach in there, separate the two, and pull the switch up
and out of the hole.

It is a pain.  If you think getting it out is hard, wait until
you try to put the new one back in!  I found that lining up the
connector and the switch was very hard if the switch was already
mounted in the right place.  I found it a little easier to put
the switch inside the connector and slide the both of them into
the correct mounting place.
