[s-cars] Belly pans, do they really help our intercoolers work better? Any sources?

All this talk about dyno's, intercoolers, and heat sink has got me
thinking. I don't have a belly pan on the silver S4. Does it really
make a big difference on how well our wimpy little innerfender mounted
intercooler works?

After looking under my car I decided it probably does and set out to
get a belly pan installed and potentially do a frankenliner mod.

The local stealer quoted me $167.10 for the belly pan, $30 for some
bracket, with fasteners etc. the total came to $254 + tax, That's
crazy!
Is there any place that I can get a belly pan for my 93 S4 other than
the dealer?

Isn't the belly pan the same as on an Audi 100..So I might be able to
find a used one at a junk yard..Is there any reason other than
cost/convenence to NOT install a belly pan?

Thanks for the input
Chris
