[s-cars] snow tires

A simple suggestion from far in the snow-belt: Got steel rims,
preferably 15". You won't see any pothole when it's covered with snow.
My 15" rims, with 205/60R15 have been bent after the first winter. If
you bend a rim, you just throw it away and buy a new one. If you bend
the stock rims, it's another story. And you don't even want to know what
salt and gravel does to a nice Avus rim. The other advantage is you can
buy whatever size you want. I found the 205/60R15 over 7.5x15" rims a
good compromise for decent wet/dry handling and snow performance. You
can also use 195/65R15 over 7x15" if your priority is deep snow
handling.
BTW, I usually choose the rim size / tire size combination based on what
have been supplied by Audi as OEM. Never had any problem using this
rule.
HTH
Vincent.

On 16x7 205/60 16, ont 16x8 225/50-60 16.
Beware that Blizzacks run narrow, so the 205/60 is gonna be tough to
seat on
a 7in rim (btdt)

Hello,
This is the first Vermont winter with my 92 s4.
What is the ideal size snow tire to run on the stock 16 inch rims?
What is the narrowest I can safely get away with?
Thank you,
Jed
