My car is doing that right now as well!  My number 3 cylinder has the same problem.  I brought it in and had the PSO replaced, and yes, that didnt do f*#&ing shit.  good use of 300 bucks. I recommend not replacing the PSO because i have the same problem, inconsistent power/misfiring that comes and goes, and it seems that PSO might not have been the cause.  i hope spark plugs will do it!  thanks!  mike 94 S4
