[s-cars] Valve cover gasket

The valve cover is off. All it needed was good whack with a rubber
mallet. Now that it's off I'd like to clean it up a little. I'd like
to remove the aluminium oxidation. Any suggestions?

Gabriel,
The correct torque is 7 ft lb (10N). If yours is like mine it will be
very
brittle. Don't drop pieces in the plug holes. Although I didn't do so
on
mine, Trevor Frank suggested putting some Dow 111, a noncuring silicone,
on
the gasket. Good luck let me know if you have any problems. You have
a
number of good S-men in your area. I bought some wheels from Sean
Douglas
in Burnaby - seems like a real good guy . There are others I have
spoken to
(via email) but my computer crashed, and my brain did the same, so I
can't
remember who they were.
Take care,
Bob

Was this the correct answer? I am doing my VCG soon and I am very
Bentley impaired.

specifications for the bolts? I believe about 10ft lb. Does that sound
right?

Bob,
I believe it's 10 Nm, not ft.lb.
