In all fairness to superchips ... I bought their product for the UrS4 in late
1996 and they do know where the boost maps are ... I think a quick compare
with some other players could have quickly told them the locations ... As a
matter of fact I derived my first boost chip for my own consumption in 1997 ....
ahem ... after evaluating their code and the stock code.
At that time they absolutely did not recommend using a stiffer wastegate
spring until I called and complained about the lack of horsepower.
They had a very elegant fuel encryption board ... similar to the one MTM uses
... but much higher production quality ... and very nice high quality labels
on the EPROMs.
The good thing about them was that I bought it for $250.00 installed. I ended
up taking them out and sending them back and got a refund without any issues.
It did increase the torque but unimpressive on the horsepower. But I fixed
that and got the best of both worlds at least I thought it was good for that
time frame.
Superchips is more into building chips for a broad market of cars but it
would be a little extreme to think they couldn't find the boost maps. Utilizing
them ineffectively is probably a fair assessment!
