[s-cars] smoking S6

I have a 1995 s6 with 98,000 on it and about 2 weeks ago the motor started to burn oil.  It started happening when the weather got cold.  I don't know if that has anything to do with it but it did start happening when the weather dropped below 35.  The car smokes really bad about 1 minute after the motor has been started when the motor is cold.  I have always ran Mobil 1 10W30 in it but I switched over to Mobil 1 0w40 when it got cold outside but then I switched back to 10W30 to see if that would change anything but it did not the car is still burning oil.  Any suggestions.
