[s-cars] New S6 owner, some observations and questions

They are definitely a fine automobile and are readily and addictively
upgradeable. Bury your wallet now.

1. This behaviour is called "tramlining" and is common on this car. It is
due to the wide tires. Changing tire brands and getting a good four wheel
alignment can reduce tramlining.

2. The dash chirp is either from the main heater/AC fan or the fan that
pulls air through the small grill in the top of the dash to the cabin
temperature sensor. If the chirp changes frequency as you change the heater
fan speed that is the culprit.

3. The radio shouldn't shut off after an hour.

4. Yup, Euro lights with HID lows and 100w highs are the only way to go!

Hello all, I have had my '96 S6 for almost two weeks now and I really
like it. I upgraded from a '87  VW Quantum syncro wagon, what a
difference 10 valves and a turbo makes! Anybody want a $500 winter beater ?
1.Car seems to follow uneven pavement. I'm assuming it is due to the
wider tires (17X8 wheels, 225-45-17) ?
2.I have a cricket in my dash (fan chirps,occasionally) is the fan going
out or something I need to live with ?
3. My radio is the Bose delta (?), with RDS, is that somewhat rare ?
Also, after playing the radio for about 1 hr it will just shut off. I am
assuming it is some sort of overheating protection , after I wait 10
mins and turn it back on it is fine.
4. Headlights stink, makes me wish I would have participated in the
recent group buy.
