[s-cars] brake light 'flash' over bumps...

Sounds to me more like what you're seeing is a quick level indicator register. All instances so far described fit with either low level or a potentially flakey level sensor, or both.

When you replaced the slave, the level in the brake fluid reservoir had to have changed what with bleeding and refilling, etc.

When you go over a bump the fluid sloshes.

When you declutch, espcially during spirited driving, the fluid sloshes.

Just a thought,
Ed

Subject: [s-cars] Pleasent side effect due to new slave cylinder

A pleasent side effect I forgot to mention as the
result of the new slave cylinder. For the last 10
months or so my red brake light would come on when I
went over any bump on the road (or if in NYC when I
fell into every pothole i think i am attracted to
them). Now I get not even a flicker over bumps and
potholes.

93 S4 with clutch cylinder early failure warning
system as always thought YMMV maybe only green ones
have it.

Hmmm... mine is green... and I get a very quick brake light flash when I
go over the speed bumps in my parking garage (meaning, they're taken around
corners, not straight on, so one wheel at time generally). Is this then
indicative of an impending slave failure? Oddly, I also get it during hard
upshifts upon 'letting' the clutch back out.
