[s-cars] Winter is coming

I'm running 10w30 all year long. The car start easily even at -20F and
do not use any oil at 95F.
For winter tires, it's all depends how much snow and ice you get. My
personnal choice is Blizzak WS-50 for a lot of snow and ice but they're
barely decent on dry pavement. Pirreli Winter Sport are very good on dry
and wet, not bad on ice but not very good in deep snow, at least in my
opinion. Blizzak LM-22 are a good compromise, more snow-ice oriented
than the Pirellis but still good on dry-wet pavement.
For the wheels, I've downsized to 205/60R15 - stock callipers allow 15"
- as the road in Quebec, already in bad shape in summer, are beyond any
description in winter so I prefer the added security of the 60 ratio. I
have still damaged two rims during the last winter, even with 60s, but
Quebec is a very special example of bad roads :( The 205 profile is
beneficial in deep snow but you may stick to the original 225 if you
have only occasional snow or more ice than snow.

Now that it is almost here.....
Any suggestions for rubber floor mats ? Does the dealer still have them
or are the Weathertech mats a better option.
How about oil weight ? In my GTI and syncro (which like thicker oil in
the summer) I used Mobil 1 15w-50 in the summer and 10W-30 in the
winter(less lifter noise when starting up). I now noticed that Mobil 1
now has a 0W-40 "European car" formula.
I have been looking around for winter wheels and tires any good leads or
links ? I will need to switch as I am running on 17X8's with summer
tires.
I appreciate all the responses I received from my last post.
Thank You !!!
