[s-cars] Adding retractable cupholders

Beware. The 2000 S4 I traded for our 2002 Eurovan had a retractable
cupholder high in the dash, very convenient. However, any spills ended up on
and in the radio, vastly decreasing its life. I would suggest putting any
cupholder where spills will not drip down onto anything that doesn't like
Starbucks or Coke in its guts.

Subject: [s-cars] Adding retractable cupholders

Well I love my S4, it is a great car to drive on long road trips

BUT

I really don't like the location of the cupholders.

I have been looking at the Saab's and Jetta's etc. that have the retractable
cupholders incorporated into the dash. I find myself wondering if this could
be incorporated into the S4

Specifically if you look at the center console area above teh vents below
the instrument cluster there is a part of the trim that surrounds the
console. I am wondering what is behind the trim and if it is possible to put
a retractable cupholder there.

If an open space can be made available there I think it would be feasible to
attach the piece of trim you remove to the face of the cupholder.

Has anybody else looked into this yet?

Chris
