In terms of add-on cupholders, the one that Bill Mahoney mentioned
is one of the best- the Griot's cupholder is a very nice piece indeed,
added one to my old 5ktq when I had it.

Germans are pretty far behind when it comes to cupholder design,
probably because Europeans do a lot less drinking while driving.

I have yet to encounter a German car that has decent cupholders- the
ones
in the 5 series BMW are a joke, worse than the Audi ones. The A4 and A6
have somewhat acceptable cupholders but not practical and the
dash-mounted
one is very bad if you have a spill. Porsches have pretty bad cupholders
as
well.

Best cupholders I've seen were in the Toyota Sienna minivan I rented
recently.

When you have a 200mi round-trip commute, cupholders become very
important.
