If this is ANYTHING like the type 44 w/airbag, this is not adequate.

There is a separate airbag power source, which must be disconnected, as
well as the battery. In the type 44, the connector is in the driver's
side
console panel, just to the right of the gas pedal, and attached to the
removable panel.

I watched one of the local dealer techs do this job on a '95 A6 last
week.
He left the steering wheel on and disconnected the battery to disarm the
airbag. He was sitting to one side to avoid working in front of the
airbag.
