It depends on the model year.
The wiring diagrams for the Audi 100 up to August 1992,
and for the '92 urS4, show a separate Airbag Energy Reserve, J177.
It does not show any particular way to disconnect this reserve,
but it does show a 2-pin connector that can disconnect the igniter.
Newer cars do not show a separate energy reserve.
The 93-95 models show a connector, called T1n, described as this:
Wire connector, single, red, front footwell, right,
near Electronic Box.
For the 96/97 A6 the T1n connector is gone.
So, for some models there is a separate energy reserve. For others,
the wiring diagram doesn't show one but I think I read it is
incorporated into the Airbag Control Module itself.
