Thanks Calvin,

I am scared sh*tless of detonation so I think I hear it all the time. So far
it has always been something else so I gotta admit that I am still not sure
I would recognize if I hear it. What I understand from your post and others
is that the sensors give me a safety margin. What I am thinking of now is a
larger FMIC to really cool the charge more. Then I can relax a little.

Glad you found it.  For future reference if the car is audibly detonating
one of two options exist from what I understand.  One is that if the knock
sensor system is working properly it should be at maximum retard on the
timing and if it continues to hear knocking the check engine light should
come on.  The other option is the knock sensor isn't working.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

Turns out it was 2 problems simultaneously. My servo pump has a death
rattle. The rattle is rpm dependant. Second I had a boost leak. I was
hearing rattle and running out of steam at the same time. Gottcha!!
