Charlie, Franco, Listers,

Attached are three pictures of a relay I found in a 1998 Audi 5000 that
allows the One Touch Up feature in the UrS4 cars.

I found the relay on accident actually. I was at a salvage yard looking for
the relay with the part number Franco wrote about in the one touch up article
on Charlie's site. As it turned out, the 100's he was speaking of were EURO
100's. I read the write up too quickly!

I was looking in 100's and 1995 A6's for them, and when I didn't find any, I
called Fred Baker and asked the parts department to look up the part number
for the "D" relay. He mentioned that the "D" relay was for 1984-1988 5000's, so
back to the salvage yard I went.

I found the relay in the attached pictures in a 1988 5000. It is part number
443 951 257. It had the "61" terminal, but did not have the SK or 30a
terminal. I emailed Franco to ask what the two missing terminals were, and found out
that SK is the "Comfort Close" feature on the cars. The 30a is a ground, but
the relay will work without this ground.

The relay comes apart easily, just pry the sides away from the base, and the
bottom will come out. You can see the pry marks in the first picture where I
took the relay apart.

The second picture shows the bottom of the relay. You will have to solder
terminals 15 and 61 together so that there is power to the 61 terminal, the same
way you would with the relay in Franco's write up. The third picture shows how
I soldered them together, just linked them with some solder on the across the
board.

After the terminals are linked, you can put the cover back on, and you will
have one touch up! You will lose the Comfort Close feature, but I was willing
to give this feature up as I seldom used it.

Thanks to Franco for his help with the electrical stuff related to the relay!

Hope that helps anyone who wants the one touch up feature!
