Actually, the Big Reds have smaller net piston surface area than the Stock G60's.
G60's have two pistons with the same effecitve size as an about 60mm piston. (hence the name)
Big reds have 36mm and 44mm pistons, same effective size as an about 57mm piston.
Smaller P-Brakes (Boxter) have even smaller effective piston sizes.
On top of that they are stiffer, which means in the end they need less fluid, not more, since the bridge doesn't flex as much.
The extra braking power of "Big Reds" or other P-Brake based upgrades is not from the caliper size, it's from the increase in rotor size (which also provides fade resistance). The benefit from the caliper is improved pedal feel and fade resistance since they are stiffer.
Cody, do you have a S4 or a S6?
On a semi-related topic, I'm with Leigh on the Big-Rear-Brakes - completely unecessary for performance. I find my UrS4 (ECS Stage II at front) to be almost over-braked at the rear. If you have even larger front rotors, then it's possible you need to bias more brakes to the rear, but in this case I'm pretty sure a adjustable bias valve will give you all the extra rear braking power you need, much cheaper than Big Reds and the associated parking brake hassles. They do look good though :-)
Cheers,
Keith

Maybe you need another master cylinder. Bigger brakes = bigger pistons =
more volume of fluid moving when you brake, no? Bigger volume = more pedal
travel.

Gents,
I love the Big Red kit...and w/ Hap's latest post I am even more jealous.
However the question I have is in regards to my brake pedal...I can depress
it ALL THE WAY and be nearly on threshold braking...but I can NEVER lock up
the brakes w/ my R4-S Pads and stainless steel lines. Is this normal? It
is not brake fade and I am not aware of any air in the brake lines (Super
Blue Fluid)
Can anyone else running ECS Stage II w/ similar pads lock up the wheels?
