Rich,
You don't say what car you have. If you car has the ordinary
audi intermittent wiper setup with a fixed 6 second delay setting,
then there are replacement relays that will give you a variable
delay. Some audi cars have a variable delay from the factory using
and an extra control on the wiper stalk to set the delay.
These relays won't do anything useful for those cars.
There is a generic Bosch programmable wiper relay that can be used in
place of many VW/Audi relays, and in fact it also works on certain
Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, Saab, Porsche and Volvo models.
It's Bosch part number 0-986-335-058.
The one I have came in a package that was printed in 1990 and
has instructions in german, italian, french, and dutch.
No english :-( Someone (maybe at Wolfsport?) wrote out instructions
in English and stapled them to the front.
I got mine from Wolfsport. They're in Northern California.

I think I paid about $35 USD + shipping.
On the 92-95 100/S4/A6/S6 models, the relay is in the central electrical
panel, under the steering wheel.
On the 95 A6 it's the 5th relay from the left. Might vary for
other models. Best to check with the wiring diagram for your car.
