that does sound like fuel.  you said there's pressure before and after
the fuel filter.  how do you know?  are you able to check the pressure
while the car is running?

or you might want to replace the fuel filter as a matter of course.  i
know if i was down there mucking around, i'd replace the fuel filter.
mine (112k miles) is still on the original filter as far as i know.
