[s-cars] Brake Options?

Mark,
I'll never do that. I'm still able to love my urS6 but I know I'll hate
it as soon as I try an urS with any decent brake upgrade. So, until my
left pocket become stretched by a 1100USD heavy wallet, I'll keep away
from any BIRA-equiped urS ;-)
Thanks,
Vincent.

Hi Paul,
Now that everybody have said BIRA is the only thing to do, I'll try
another route. If you still have OEM rotors and pads, Pagid pads - or
other aftermarket pads - do make a difference. I've changed to Zimmerman
rotors at the same time as mine was warped but I don't think the rotor
brand really make a difference in braking power. SS-braided lines give a
very little advantage in acceleration as your wallet is lighter but it
doesn't made any difference regarding the pedal feel for me. My OEM
lines were toasted so I threw a few more box for Paradox lines instead
of OEM but if your lines are fine, keep them.
So, at the end, aftermarket pads may be a first cheap step toward more
braking power. And the next step seems to be BIRA.

I'm wondering if the 993TT/996TT brakes are beneficial to cars that
aren't
tracked at all, but driven hard on a daily basis.
I guess what I'm looking for, is a system that is competent during road
trips,
which would be, for me at least, 4-5 hours through desert conditions. I
just
changed my brake fluid, so I'm hoping I never have to experience the
"pedal to
the floor without any noticeable slowing down" feeling.
If I were to upgrade to stainless steel brake lines, ATE Powerdiscs, and
HAWK
brake pads, would I notice anything in terms of Brake Fade and stopping
distance?
What are some options that will allow me to stop in a shorter distance,
while
not building up too much detrimental heat? My dream is to go BIRA Stg.
6, but
if I can get away with upgrading the rotors/pads/lines, as well as going
with a
sticker tire that'll give me a comparable non-track characteristic as
Big Reds,
then I'm all for that.
SO I guess to sum it all up, how do upgrade G60s compare to the Big
Reds?
Anyone have experience with Wilwoods? Alcons?
Thanks,
Paul
