Robert;
Don't fix it if it's not broken.
Also, Verizon really bandwidth limits their DSL, especially upstream.
Taka is right, your POTS line qualitiy is a big technical factor.
IF your cable-neighborhood is ligthly loaded, it will appear a lot faster.
(It's Ethernet basically)

IMHO,
DSL is not worth it- I've had _tons_ of problems with DSL, living
less than 5000' from the CO and with two different services- the quality
of the wire in your home is critical- if you have old wiring, you will
have lots of headaches.

Hi Y'all,
Sorry for the lack of AC
Verizon has finally gotten around to making DSL available in my area. I
have been using a cable modem which has been (usually) quite
satisfactory. Does anyone have experience with both systems and have a
recommendation as to which is more satisfactory? I realize that there
is a loading factor speed penalty when many users are on-line with the
cable which does not happen with DSL. So far, that has not been a
significant problem - yet. The DSL is about $5/month less expensive
than the cable modem but that is not a large factor in the decision.
