Are you covered for comprehensive?

Doesn't it seem highly probable that the assailant
power-shifted in his stint of joy-riding?  Shouldn't
the insurance company question that even if the
accident didn't cause the problem, there was someone
driving the car who really didn't care what happened
who could have very well caused it?

Sticky situation dealing with insurance companies as
they certainly don't *want* to pay.  If it were me,
I'd closely read my policy then I'd try to find an
advocate at the insurance company that would at least
recognize that the damage could be caused by the
theif.  I'd work my way up the management chain until
I got something.  If that didn't work, there is enough
money at stake to justify threatening legal action.
