[s-cars] CV joint boot now installed

I've just finished installing the boot kit. Many thanks to the many listers
who gave advice. As Igor (and others) said, you can get away without
removing suspension parts, BUT it's a tight fit. There's virtually no room
to move the inner end out of the way to allow the outer splined bit to
withdraw from the hub. Reassembly is even more difficult - it took all I'd
got to get the outer end back into the hub - I've got a throbbing thumb to
prove it!
200Nm + 1/4 turn is quite a lot of torque for the hub nut. I got there in
the end, but I'm sure it's a lot tighter than I used to do on my old 80q
(4kq in the US).
A thunderstorm is just about to start, so I think I'll leave the other side
for a week or two - the boot is still intact. Interestingly, the Haynes
manual (which states specifically that it doesn't cover turbo or quattro
models) states that you don't need to remove suspension items to do the LHS,
but you do need to remove them to do the RHS. Anyone care to comment? Is
this a UK model problem?
Thanks again for the hints
Paul
p.s. Igor, the hub nut supplied in the (German) repair kit was 27mm, not an
Allen bolt.
