[s-cars] Brake upgrade question

I'm doing a very minor brake upgrade. I wanted to do the BIBA stage 1 (with the
big A8 rotors, etc...) but don't have the money right now. I'm going with KVR x-
drilled rotors, KVR carbon-fiber pads, and some SS brake lines. We'll see how
it goes.
A couple of questions. I got the rotors in over the weekend, and broke into my
Bentley manual to make sure there wasn't any magic invovled. Almost had a heart
attack when I saw in the manual that the rotors for the S4 are supposed to be
314 mm (or thereabouts don't remember the exact number). Of course, the ones I
ordered were 276 mm, and I verified that several times against various on-line
sources (but not the Bentley). My heart was restored when I went out this
morning and actually took the tire off to measure it. Definitely 276mm. Also,
the Bentley seemed to indicate (in the diagrams) that there were four pads per
rotor, instead of the two that are obviously there (another run to the hospital
averted).
Question 1: The Bentley CD is obviously wrong, Does this happen often? Makes we
wonder what I can and can't trust in it.
Question 2: The KVR pads don't have the electronic wear sensor wires or
squealers. Anyone got experience with an easy way to check the wear level of
pads that don't have the sensor wire? I can't really see in with the five spoke
wheels, and I'd hate to take them off just to check pads. On the other hand I
rotate two or three times a year anyway, so this isn't that big of a deal.
Thanks,
Barry
