With all the air I push in my system, I have been forced to research this
issue carefully. My choice is a constant torque type of clamp obtained through
NAPA Autoparts. They are a Balkamp clamps. They have them in numerous size
ranges from big to small. These apply an even torque load around the entire
circumference of your hose and tube. I have over torqued these on a spare aluminum
tube and ended up with and even compression ring all the way around the tube. I
have tried the same experiment with t-bolt types of clamps and ended up with a
creased failure of the tube. My entire intake tract is custom for the FMIC so
my sizes would not work with a stock system.
My small NAPA store in Everboost did not stock these but was able to order
them overnight. Let me know if you'd like a pic. Oh yeah, The cost was very
reasonable if memory serves about $2.00 each.
