Vincent,

I have the Winter 210's (the earlier one's)... I have yet to try the
SnowSport. Anyways, I have about three seasons on them and have nothing but
positive things to say about them. I had Hakkas before that on my '89 Audi
200. Were good in snow/ice, but handling wasn't great in the dry (too
squirrely) and were kinda noisy.

I would say I was just as impressed, if not more impressed with the
Pirellis. My last two seasons were here in Seattle (first was in
Wisconsin... we got 37" of snow in December alone that year). So, for
Seattle, I only see snow when I head to the mountains, and mostly just need
something good in cold conditions and rain... but occasional snow, so the
Pirellis kick ass for that!

Braking with the Pirellis is AWSOME! Quiet, was amazed at how well they
handled and love the snow. I don't know, maybe I need to compare more tires
to have a true evaluation, but I was very satisfied and would definately
think about buying another set.

Later,
Dan
Seattle, WA

Hi,

For me, it's just a marketing gimmick. Hard silice particules have been
used in winter tires for years and in the description of their concept,
I haven't seen anything different than what Blizzak have been since the
beginning. Me too, I'd like to see a complete VTI test with not only
tire brands but also tire models.

BTW Bruce, you say your favorite winters are Pirellis. What model and
size have you. I have Snowport 210 in 205/60R15 on my urS6 and my
personnal feeling are... they suck. Noise, wet and dry handling are
pretty good, I have to admit, but for that I have my summer tires.
Braking in snow is decent but steering really suck compare to the
Blizzak WS-50 I have on my 90Q20V. Is it just because I compare
dedicated snow tires to occasional snow tires? May be. Anyway, I was a
bit surprise to see someone saying my personnal worst choise is his
favorites. A good exemple of YMMV.

Vincent.
