I agree with Elijah that an oil leak at the turbine seal
could be causing the smoking.
If the smoke is white instead of bluish, it's even more
likely that it's the turbo. There's very little free oxygen
in the exhaust to burn the oil and cause blue smoke even
when it gets hot enough for ignition.
By the way, aerobatic show planes inject oil into the exhaust
to generate their white smoke trails. They're looking for
the attention, but I assume you're not ;-)
