I used the rubber washer with no problems.. I actually bent the Fumoto a
little when I was putting it in, as it's really soft metal and it's thin
walled in some areas. Fortuntaely I only bent the stem piece that contains
the spring on the release lever, and it still works just fine. Long story
short, you shouldn't be putting enough torque on these things that the
copper washer piece would work.
