Dwayne;
The shock and spring comes out as one unit. You'll need a spring compressor
to collapse the spring and get it off the shock.
I actually took a set of photos with the intention of writing up a how-to on
this but never got around to it. Take careful note of the position of the
top strut mount with relation to the spring and shock - the Bentley shows a
fancy tool used to set it at 12 degrees off the plane of the lunar orbit or
some such thing. If you get it in the wrong position, it'll fit kind of
funny - trust me on this :o)
Good luck!

Subject: [s-cars] Rear Shock R&R
I need to swap out my rear shocks to replace one that siezed.
I haven't looked at it carefully, but am I right in thinking this is pretty
straightforward and I don't need a spring compressor?
i.e. jack up the car and let the rear wheels hang, unbolt the shock at the
top from inside the trunk, unbolt the bottom, and replace.
Any BTDT advice?
Thanks.
Dwayne
