BTW, i just got a used 441 959 257 B power window module in the mail.  it
passes the sniff test.  it doesn't have the acrid smell that my
old one did, so i hope this one will fix the problem.

i do have to check to make sure the alarm system is working correctly,
as it could have caused the power window module to fail.
