Perhaps the classified section could be mothballed for a while, and "contact
us" links could be killed.

I like Lee's membership idea.  Maybe a membership could come with an email
address or something.  Of course that may be the opposit of sheading work

Absolutely. Let us know how much needs to be raised, acknowledge the
supporters as official "supporting member" or "lifetime member" blah blah
blah. I'd pony up $ to keep the website going.
