[s-cars] Ignition Switch Part Number?

I tried to get this part replaced under the recall on my 95.5 S6.
Somehow my car didn't show up on their computers as being part of the
recall, even though it's clearly within the VIN range and definitely has
the problem. I talked and talked with their reps, and they would NOT NOT
NOT help me out. I even sent a letter to Audi corporate, and they
referred it to customer service. They promptly called me and said that I
was fighting a lost cause. I threatened to sue, and they told me that I
was welcome to try.
Any advice on this one? How hard is it to change out that switch? I'm
not enthused about hiring a lawyer to save 20 bucks, but if it's
expensive then maybe I should.
A second thought, anyone out there who's received similar treatment
should give me an email and we'll set up a class action lawsuit. Get
some punitive damages as well for the decrease in our safety.
Audi makes great cars, but they're a bunch of total creeps.

Subject: RE: [s-cars] Ignition Switch Part Number?
Tom Green informed:
KB14 is the recall code for 1994 Audi 100, S4 and called for
replacement parts ignition switch 8A0 905 851L. "Replace ignition
switch, wash/vacuum vehicle; provide loaner, if necessary" They won't
do vehicles outside the VIN range or pay for duplicate repairs, but
"Dealers are to service each vehicle subject to this recall regardless
of mileage, age of the vehicle or selling dealer, from this time
forward."
Now, given all that, there have been reports of replacement switches
having suffix codes varying from the above and the "J" for S6 models
with resulting radio power different than before the change. Hope this
confuses things enough ?

Tom-I think you may have shed light on a problem I have been pursuing
since
I bought my S6. Do you believe this means that the problem I'm having
with
my radio not coming on and turning off with the ignition (and
frustratingly
the radio turns off after an hour all the time-thinks it's running on
reserve power) and the GALA not functioning may be the result of an
incorrect ignition switch?
I love this list!
Thanks,
Jim 95.5 S6 Avant
