Bob:  As Sean just pointed out, Gabriel Caldwell has used a US source
for the parts.  I used my trusty VM Autohaus (604-298-9637).  Both Sean
and Gabriel did their own timing belts (and etc) so they might be able
to supply you with some hints.  I am going to hook you up off-line to a
semi-lister in Calgary who has all the special VAG tools that you might
be able to borrow/rent.  In the mean time, start searching for the
biggest meanest 3/4" drive ratchet/breaker bar (try Princess Auto) to
take off the crank bolt.
