Mike Writes:
I have a '93 with no rear swaybar at all. Can I use
this kit to attach an HSRB? If I recall, the HSRBs
are generally available, but the rest of the h/w is
hard to come by.
Mike and All,
This Bracket is designed to replace the OEM bracket, so if you car doesn't
have a pre-existing lower sway bar brackt, then we have a small problem.
I didn't think about the lack of bracket, but I guess it makes sense for
Audi to delete the unused tapped hole in the Bearing Housing.
Solutions: Use the Supplied bracket as a drill jig to drill and tap a hole
for the M8 X 1.25 bolt.
I haven't looked at an undrilled Bearing Housing as my car, a 1995.5 Avant,
came with a stock rear sway bar.
Anyone in Seattle with a non RSB car willing to come over and let me crawl
underneath to see what other options migh be available for the unfortunate
majority of S-4, S-6 drivers who have no OEM supplied rear Sway bar? I could
be convinced to design and fabricate a Bracket for this application if there
is enough interest.
Update: I took the Brackets in for Powder Coating today and they will now be
coated in a metailic silver color. Same cost, so they are no longer Black.
Might look a little cooler in silver.
I will get back to each of you who have indicated an interest individually
with shipping cost to your location as soon as I have finalised the shipping
carton. I anticipate using UPS 3 day so you may look online at UPS to get an
estimate for your shipping cost. Box should be about 2" X 4" X 3" weight
about 1 lb.
