Hi John,
You might want to search the archives (Maddock Torsen EDL), I've
written quite a bit on this subject in the past couple of years.
The short and skinny of it is that the two systems will
synergistically work very well together. The Torsen diff will reduce
your EDL activations, but the EDL will also come in to help the torsen
out when the torsen reaches its limits. Plus the Torsen will be there
to help out at all speeds, where the EDL cuts out at about 40mph (and
the locker cuts out at 15!)
I would rank the performance of the available UrS rear axle
configurations as follows: (from best to worse)
On Road Performance:
1. Torsen + EDL
2. Torsen (locker eliminated)
3. EDL
4. Locker
Off Road Performance (low speed off road mud or snow boggin):
1. Locker
2. Torsen + EDL
3. EDL
4. Torsen (locker eliminated)
Cheers,
Keith
93 S4 soon to have a Torsen Rear instead of a Locker...
