The tire manufacture should have, and your tire dealer should be able to
show you a published list of recommend min/max rim widths for your choice in
tires. 215's on the OEM 8" wide wheels is probably at the limits of the
"recommended" wheel width, a set of 7" or 7.5" would probably be better, but
from what I've seen of the Mexican low rider "cruisers" over on Federal
Boulevard, I suspect you ought to be able to stretch those 215's across a
set of 10" wide rims... if you could find some :-)
Otherwise, IMO 215/55 16's are a very good snow tire width, as long as the
tire you get doesn't have an excessively soft sidewall, producing an
unpleasant side to side swaying feeling.
