For me the fix was easy, a leaky vacuum switch on the brake or clutch. And
yes, a hardware 'o' ring should fix it. I found this out after replacing the
switch, then taking the old one apart and seeing how simple a device it was.
    Snip....

Listers -

My cruise stopped working a while back and upon closer examination, the
cause was the disengagement of the diaphragm actuator that is connected to
the throttle by a short metal rod. The diaphragm is attached to a mounting
bracket way down under the intake manifold by an M8 nut. The nut on mine
unscrewed itself and allowed the actuator to move instead of moving the
throttle. All attempts to reattach the little bugger have been
unsuccessful. Perhaps when I do my next timing belt, I will be able to
reach back there from the front of the engine.

If anyone has performed this feat of magic before and would like to share, I
am all ears (and bloody hands).
