[s-cars] taillight lens removal

ok, could someone tell me what the secret to getting the rear
taillight lenses, on these cars, off is? i have all five nuts
removed, but the gasket is that awful black adhesive stuff. even
with a few hits, on the back, from the deadblow, it's not moving.
how do you get this thing started? i can't get a single corner to
lift up. i even broke the taillight in a 'good' spot trying to
'persuade' the lens off. this should be so simple...
