Hello, my name is Peter, and I am an audiholic....

Finding, buying and driving a cheap audi requires a leap of faith, a 
certain amount of mental instability, an masochistic streak, and the right 
circle of friends....

I'm lucky enough to be cursed with all of those.

I _was_ lucky enough to find a red 1991 90q 20v with 174k miles on 
it...black leather interior, winter package, etc...on www.craigslist.org
for said $500 ...catch was that it had sat in a garage for a year and 
wouldn't start.  The seller was kind enough to let me tinker, and with the 
help of Mssrs Chris Miller and Chick Wells (20v.org), I was able to install 
a new battery, starter and drive it home...so its really more like a $650 
dollar car now ;-)

Given that our Avants both have over 190k miles on them, the CQ is awaiting 
disembowlment (TJM Motorsport says the S2 motor rebuild will be complete 
soon) MY WIFE thought that it would be prudent to have a running spare 
available.

So if you want that cheap audi, troll craigslist, autotrader, 
"thewantadvertiser" etc....

BTW Paulie, Herr Simoes is also looking for a sub $500 4QK....so you have 
competition.
