[s-cars] To re-upholster or not to re-upholster

Tom,

I agree that some pull on cover would not improve anything. Well,
unless it was those hawaiian print wet suit material covers. ;-)
What I was referring to was the OEM stuff like the guy is selling in
the ACNA classifieds. It looks like the original seat bottom cover as
the newer sport seat bolsters are not separate. I don't think you can
keep the high quality of the interior unless you go with the OEM
replacements. That is, unless the 4.2 A6 sport seats would slip right
in their place.

Kevin,

I depends on how much repair your seats need and how
slippery your slope is.

All the parts and pieces for the seats are available
at the dealer. The outer bolster on the bottom
cushion is not integrated into the center section.
The foam is also available separately.

A friend had his lower bolster repaired and it is
hard to tell. Total cost = $70. Good shops are
around. Of course, as has been mentioned, these
seats are not easy to work on (BTDT when I replaced
my seat heater element).

IMHO seat covers look like crap.
