do you have a GSM cell phone, I have noticed that before my phone rings I hear the speakers buzz, also when driving under certain power lines I can hear the speakers buzz/pop, no matter what the volume level is, perhaps these things are all connected, somthing to look into to.  I don't hear my engine interfier with my radio though.  A friend had an old VW wagon that you could hear the rpms on if you put the radio on AM static channels.  would assume it's ok, perhaps it's the amps to the speakers.
