Igor,

Douglas  ( and others ) will intently listen if you share where to 
invest $135 and receive
a CPS for the S6 in return.

I would think you could not get the CPS changed at any dealer for less 
than $790 if you are paying Audi list for
the parts and the posted labor rates.  The lunacy is having the dealer 
service an Audi without a
warranty or service contract.

$790 for CPS is lunacy.

The CPS never fails. Its wiring does. Always seems to break the strands
inside the insulation, hence the intermittent behaviour in the
beginning, after which it dies completely.

In all but one case I was able to fix the broken wires by just
resoldering them and heat-shrink insulating the solder joint.

In Stefan's car the wire broke right by the CPS case at which point we
decided that a $135 investment in a new CPS would be justified.
