[s-cars] Re: Suspension Upgrade

My impressions of Bilstein Sport / Eibach +20mm spacer:

I am sorely tempted to go back to my stock 92 springs and see if the HSRB
will take care of the roll. When I first put the BS/E combo on, sans spacer,
I was very happy with the ride, but the ass sat too low. As in, scraping
EVERYTHING I go over... EVERYTHING. So, I install the 20mm spacer from ECS
and the ride height is spot on, but now I still have two complaints. 1) The
change in the rear height moved some weight to the front of the car, and the
front end feels worse now. I resented the fact that I would need to purchase
a spacer to make the product work in the first place, and now that I have it
installed and the ride suffered, I am even more annoyed. 2) The car is still
way too low. I will scrape on any burly speedbump I try to go over. The
other day I had two passengers on the rear, and I actually scraped going
over a manhole in a recently repaved section of road. A MANHOLE for
chrissake!

My stock springs are going back on. I'd love to sell these Eibach springs to
one of you guys. They have been on for ~6months.

As for H&Rs, I bet they are better. I had the red (race) H&Rs on my 5kcstq
and I loved them. They had a very balanced ride, and for whatever reason
they didn't seem to cause me to scrape going over every little thing.
Another data point, with my red H&Rs I ran the boge turbogas, and they were
a perfect match.... even though one would think they would be too stiff for
the cheap little BTGs to handle.

My advice: Put the stuff on one piece at a time. I skipped putting on just
struts, and I think that's how I screwed up. Now, to find out if I would
prefer it that way, I'll haveto take everything apart again and take a lot
more time that if I had done it that way first.

YMMV and my car is a '92 so my springs don't totally suck.
