Because the front bumper flares out to match the front fenders.  The S6 has
wider flared front fenders compared to the A6.  And though most folks seem
to refer to the Euro bumpers as S6 Plus bumpers, there is nothing unique
about the S6 Plus bumpers.  The front and rear bumpers are the same for the
S6, S6 4.2, and S6 Plus.  The only difference is that the S6 4.2 and S6
Plus, being NA V8 cars, have a different left grill as there is no
intercooler on them.  And there's no such thing as S6 Plus rear taillights
either.  They're also common to all S models.  The only exterior trim that
is unique to the S6 Plus is the grill, the window trim, and the roof rails
on the Avant.  Well...and the badges of course.
