The way problems occur simultaneously in these cars is bizarre! My car had
a whining fuel pump at -5 deg F this morning. This is the first time I have
heard any noise from this pump (replaced last spring). I could still hear
it on my way home this evening but it seems to be running fine.

Subject: [s-cars] Fuel pump noise?
Ok, coldest day we have so far so I go out and warm up the car. When I
start and go inside everything is fine, no unusual noises or anything.
When I go back out I hear a rather audible whining sound coming from
the rear end and my first thought of course is Fuel Pump.
I drove to work and it drove perfectly fine, unless I floored it in
5th, then it would give a hesitation, but not incredibly jerky, just
like it wasn't getting enough fuel and not like it wasn't getting any.
So, fuel pump? What else makes noise back there? Also noticed in the
Bently you don't need to remove the tank to get at the pump...thats
handy :)

p.s. patient is a 92 S4
