[s-cars] Potential reason why the "370" software causes pinging

Joe: Suggesting that octane boost (like the 5 gal can of toluene in my
garage) is the cure for my problem is something like suggesting crack cocaine
is the cure for insomnia. Waaaaay too addictive. I posted the same
"SMS/7.8:1" info to Audi World and Mihnea replied that he believes that:

"The 370 HP chipset is a Lehmann fuel/timing chip (originally sold by Ned as
his own in his Stage 4 chipset) and a TS Tuning (Tom Schmalz) boost chip. I
don't know if the boost chip is another copy of a copy, but it's definitely
not a good chip, as the maps that
affect the knock sensors have been changed. The only reason for pinging in
the "370" sw is the way too aggressive timing advance and lack of knowledge
when changing the knock sensors "window" for listening to knock."

Hmmm.... I guess I had my TSTs and SMSs mixed up. But still, it does seem to
make sense, even without the 7.8:1 compression factor. I am working towards a
FMIC so I guess we'll see if I need new software (or water injection) after
that. / Dave F.
