[s-cars] To re-upholster or not to re-upholster

To all who see these greetings, Happy New Year.
Disaster relief to Indonesia and SE Asia will give a sober start to the
New Year.
I'm still trying to reconcile what is boosting the stock market so much
and what
is driving what I see as a massive spending spree in this country.
I visited my dealer and a recommended upholstery shop. Not impressed
by
the repair shops ability to make a satisfactory repair with generic
materials .
The Audi replacement seat bottom $739 seat back (not the center pad)
$815, replacement bolsters are $45 for bottom each and $137 for side
bolsters (wings) of
the back which is all one piece. Sticker shock is still with me. The
lower bolster covers are separate
pieces, but have no part number and are not available from Audi as
separate parts.
There must be a way that makes economic sense, not cheap but not $2K
per seat either, especially
since all my seat had was the usual scuffing of the driver seat wings.
The rest of the seat is in great
shape.
Doesn't someone have a better answer to this dilemma, even if we have
to import from the source?
