Rob,

I have has similar symptoms on mine several times.  The failure isn't always
the same, but the common thread is that several buttons don't work.  I
believe the failure always occurs when the car is started.  Fortunately, it
has always corrected itself for me after a few minutes of driving and
occasional button pushing.  I'd say 5 minutes max.  Sorry I can't give any
tips for repair.  I wish knew what the cause was.
